Set-out checklist
City rules before collection day. Confirm with the city if anything looks off.
When
Carts at the curb by 7 a.m. on collection day; no earlier than 6 p.m. the evening before. Bulk/brush out by 7 a.m. Monday of your scheduled bulk week (pickup sometime that Mon–Fri week).
Where
Alley homes: carts in the alley, wheels toward the house. Front homes: carts adjacent to the driveway. Leave 3 ft between carts and other objects (cars, mailboxes, poles). Bulk/brush at the FRONT curb only — never in the alley; keep off water meters, out from under trees/wires, and out of the street.
Limits
Cart contents must fit with the lid closed. Bulk/brush ≤6 cubic yards per collection (~9×6×3 ft). Extra trash/recycle carts via city email (~$5.41/mo with tax). Over-limit bulk: special pickup through Republic 972-422-2341.
Brush
Brush (tree trimmings, leaves, grass) counts toward the 6 cu yd bulk/brush pile. Fencing panels ≤6′×3′×3′. Fence posts with concrete and railroad ties aren’t accepted.
Not allowed
No HHW in carts or bulk piles (auto fluids, batteries, chemicals, paint — use HHW Solutions). Bulk trucks won’t take hazardous waste, construction/remodel debris, tires, rock, excavation dirt, or scrap building material. Refrigerators/freezers and Freon appliances need proper handling (see city/HHW guidance).
Bags
All garbage bagged inside the trash cart with the lid fully closed. Recyclables loose in the recycle cart (not bagged).
Fees and fines
City Garbage Service page doesn’t list set-out citation dollar amounts. Missed pickup that met rules: Utility Billing 972-771-7736. Extra cart: [email protected]. 2026 residential garbage/recycling rate listed as $25.00 + tax = $27.06/mo.
