Carrollton trash & recycling schedule
Green roll-out cart, weekly (Republic; new city contract started Oct. 1, 2025). Bagged household trash has to fit in the cart with the lid closed — bags on top of, beside, or outside the cart aren’t collected. Out no earlier than 6 p.m. the evening before and no later than 6:30 a.m. on collection day; pull carts by 9 a.m. the day after. Set-out checklist
City rules before collection day. Confirm with the city if anything looks off.
When
Out no earlier than 6 p.m. the evening before and no later than 6:30 a.m. on collection day. Pull carts from curb/alley by 9 a.m. the day after. Putting brush/bulk out too early can get you a fine; putting it out late can mean they miss it.
Where
Carts and bulk/brush in the designated alley or street collection area; lid opens facing the street. Keep carts and bulk at least 3 ft from each other and from mailboxes, gas meters, fences, parked cars, and overhead obstacles; 16 ft overhead clearance; as close to curb/alley as you can (not under trees or power lines). Brush and bulk always at the front curb, even if carts are alley-served. Don’t block street/alley right-of-way, meters, drainage ditches, or sight triangles.
Limits
Bulk ≤3 cu yd/week; brush/yard waste ≤3 cu yd/week — separate limits, you can’t swap yardage. Bagged garbage has to fit in the green cart; overages get tagged and left. Off-schedule bulk is $35 (up to +3 cu yd). Extra green trash cart available for a fee; extra blue recycling carts are free. Residential service rate is on the city rates page (~$26.30 cited on the FAQ for the new contract).
Brush
Limbs cut to 4-ft lengths, tied in bundles ≤40 lb. Yard waste (leaves/grass) in plastic or paper bags or boxes ≤50 lb each — counts toward the 3 cu yd brush limit. Place at least 3 ft from carts.
Not allowed
Bulk/brush won’t take excess household trash that doesn’t fit in the green cart; brick, tile, stone, concrete blocks, railroad ties, tires, propane tanks; very large items unsafe for two people; electronics, batteries, household chemicals, paint, or automotive fluids (use HHW). Refrigerant appliances need a certified CFC-removal tag; remove doors from fridges/washers. Wrap mattresses in plastic; leave sofas/chairs assembled; tape plate glass or box broken glass.
Bags
Bag trash inside the green cart with the lid closed. Recyclables loose in the blue cart (no plastic bags except shredded paper). Yard waste bags/boxes at the front curb count toward brush.
Fees and fines
City ordinance: early brush/bulk placement can get a fine; carts still out after 9 a.m. the day after violate ordinance (report 972-466-3060). Dollar citation amounts aren’t listed on trash/bulk/FAQ pages. Fees: $35 off-cycle collection; landfill self-service $18 up to 6 cu yd on Saturdays.

From city trash/bulk pages and FAQ (checked Oct 15, 2026): Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day collections move to the following day, and the rest of that week delays one day through Saturday.
